Wild Country Wildlife Sanctuary is a last resort rescue for exotic animals who are victims of the out of control exotic pet trade. Often times people who mean well make uneducated decisions , and purchase baby exotic animals such as baby tigers, bears, wolves, monkeys, and more. Once the deal is done and these money hungry breeders have their funds, the recipient ends up with a animal that they can't properly feed or care for. When the cute cuddly baby grows to be 150-200 lbs. and is able to seriously injure or worse, kill someone, there's no place to put the animal.
Zoo's will not take outside privately owned animals because of fear of disease introduction into their animals.
Wild Country Wildlife is dedicated to providing a permanent home for and lifetime care of formerly unwanted, abused, abandoned, or neglected wild or exotic animals. The sanctuary is currently nestled in 39 wooded and mountainous acres in Paint Rock, Alabama. This is in the northern part of Alabama near the Tennessee River and outside Huntsville, Alabama. We have sold this property and are in process of relocating to Woodville, Alabama near Cathedral Caverns. We will be about 8 miles down the road from where we are now. At this new location we will own it free and clear and no longer have the big mortgage payment that we had at the Paint Rock location. See more about the relocation and see pictures under our News tab.
We do not encourage or deal in any sale or trade of wild animals. WILD means WILD. We provide a haven for animals that should have been wild, but now cannot be returned to their natural environment for a variety of reasons.
